Unlocking secret archetypes in Remnant 2 is one of the most exciting aspects of exploring its deadly, procedurally generated worlds. Among these hidden options, the Engineer stands out as a powerful class capable of deploying heavy turrets and wielding massive weaponry. Tracking down this archetype requires venturing off the beaten path into dangerous environments on the sci-fi world of N'Erud.

Where to Find the Alien Device on N'Erud

To acquire the Engineer class, players must locate a key crafting item known as the Alien Device hidden in N'Erud. This item always spawns in the second open-world zone of the region, which will be either the Eon Vault or the Timeless Horizon. You will need to walk along the outer edges of the map until you spot a specific rock formation consisting of sharp spires on one side and a ledge on the other.

Surrounding this formation is a dense wall of purple fog that causes your character to suffer status buildup and continuous damage. Despite the hazard, you must sprint directly into the fog to leap across a small gap onto a hidden lower ledge. On this ledge, you will find a body holding the Technician armor set. Dropping down just to the left of this corpse reveals the Alien Device sitting on the ground.

Crafting the Drzyr Caliper at Ward 13

Once you collect the Alien Device, your character will likely perish from the toxic fog, but the item remains safely in your inventory upon respawning. Travel back to the hub area at Ward 13 and locate Wallace, who resides up the stairs near the docks. He will offer to turn your newly discovered artifact into the specialized class engram.

To complete the crafting process, you need to hand over the Alien Device along with ten Luminite Crystals and one thousand Scrap. Wallace will reward you with the Drzyr Caliper, which officially unlocks the archetype. You can then equip this engram in your primary or secondary archetype slot immediately via the main character menu.

Engineer Playstyle and Class Abilities

The Engineer class excels at defense and heavy fire support, making it a fantastic choice for both solo players and team setups. Its primary mechanic revolves around heavy weapons that can be deployed as automated turrets or carried manually for massive damage output. As you level up the class, you unlock distinct weapon types like the Vulcan cannon, Flamethrower, and Impact Cannon.

Additionally, the Engineer comes with the Fortify trait, which significantly boosts your total armor effectiveness. Managing heavy weapon ammunition is essential, as ammo recharges gradually over time while the weapon is stowed or unequipped. Combining this heavy firepower with other archetypes creates versatile combat strategies capable of tackling the game's toughest bosses.
